These large dramatic trees are a dominant feature in the hills and grasslands above the bay in Oakland. I am attracted to the strong silhouette.

Last of the Poison Oak

The vine is almost bare of leaves, but these few remain, and their rich color is like stained glass when the sun hits it.

Lilacs in Bloom

As I prepare for a show in September, I have been looking at work I haven't yet framed, and I came across this watercolor of the lilac shrubs in my yard , I worked on it a bit ( of course ) and now I'll show it !

The deep shadows on the water of Alpine Lake attracts the Canada Geese as well as people.

Geese

This lake is home for a large group (flock) of Canada Geese - adults and chicks. They get to cruise these lovely forested waters in the foothills of the Sierras.

Alpine Lake

After a rainstorm at Alpine Lake in the Sierras , the sky cleared to a brilliant blue with huge white billowing clouds racing along.

Swerve

This is a demonstration of one of the painting possibilities available to painting on Yupo. Not my usual style , but free and fun and an avenue I want to continue to explore. Originally this was intended as an example for my  Yupo workshop, and a new pathway emerges !

Flowering Quince

This painting , " Flowering Quince " was awarded Best Still Life at the 57th Spring Exhibition by the
 RAA. Opening date for this show is May 1, 603 F S. Eureka.

This painting is a watercolor on Yupo. I will be teaching a workshop , Introduction to Painting on Yupo at Eureka Studio Arts on May 9th.

Girl with Bowl

This figure study was started during a session of our life drawing group, the difference for me being that it is painted on yupo , and shows it's characteristic intense color. My work on yupo will be on exhibit at Eureka Studio Arts beginning this Saturday at Arts Alive. I hope you will join us then.

Rambling Rose

An untidy rambling rose , these lovely small clusters of yellow blossoms capture the spring light along the fence and into my rooms .

At The Gym

This watercolor is from photos taken at different times in the gym - it's always a lively scene - and is my inspiration for the occasional  "figures in action " series.  Do you hear the loud music ?

Early Spring

This large painting was directly inspired by this warm spring which encouraged the flamboyant response of all things blooming.  26" x 39"

Arranging the Bouquet

I get pretty excited with the enthusiasm of spring  energy - who can resist all that warm light, bright new blossoms,  fresh earth smells ?  I want that energy ! 
I cut some  branches from the very exuberant  pink and white flowering quince in the yard , and had to paint it before my curious cat deconstructed it !
