Copper Kettle / Study

Color! The richness and variety of the orange in the kettle, fabric and flowers are complimented by the blue green of the foliage. To my eye this is irresistible!

June 27

After working on the large studio painting of the previous post , I wanted to change gears and do a plein air piece. These flowers are in my backyard flower patch - a jumble of perennials that just want water, and this is the reward in June. I found a painting I did of this same patch last year , and I will post it later.

Study for Pink Roses

So often when I wish to explore an idea, I do a small study first, which then gives me the courage to paint larger. This watercolor appears spontaneous and quickly done  ( ha ha ! ) I hope I can keep this freshness in the big painting.

Fishing Boats

This is one of several watercolors of Greek fishing boats I've painted. It may be trite subject matter,  painted hundreds of times, but what painter can resist?  All that light !  all those reflections !!
This small watercolor is 9" 12"
